ABOUT US

Championing Climate Action & Youth Empowerment for a Sustainable Future

GreenYouth Environmental Sustainability Network (GESN) is a dynamic non-governmental organization (NGO) dedicated to addressing the urgent issues of climate change, environmental sustainability, and youth empowerment. Founded with a mission to inspire and mobilize young people across Nigeria and Africa, GESN fosters environmental consciousness through education, advocacy, and action-oriented initiatives.

At the core of GESN’s activities is our Climate Change Awareness Campaign, designed to equip youth with the knowledge and tools to advocate for sustainable practices. We empower the next generation of leaders to take meaningful action in their communities, contributing to a greener and more resilient planet.

Our Focus:

  • Climate Change Awareness: Through school programs, community outreach, and online campaigns, GESN spreads awareness on the impacts of climate change, helping young people understand the role they play in shaping a sustainable future.
  • Youth Advocacy: We believe that youth are key drivers of change. GESN actively supports young leaders in developing their voices on global platforms to influence policy and drive positive environmental change.
  • Environmental Sustainability: Our projects promote responsible practices that mitigate environmental degradation. We focus on sustainable development, climate justice, and eco-friendly initiatives aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
  • Partnerships for Change: Collaboration is at the heart of GESN’s approach. We partner with local, national, and international organizations, including government bodies, civil society groups, and educational institutions, to amplify our impact and achieve common goals.

Key Initiatives:

  • Climate Justice in Schools: Through football and other youth-friendly platforms, we engage students in Lagos, in Nigeria and beyond, to promote climate action, ensuring that environmental education reaches the grassroots.
  • Youth Empowerment through Green Jobs: By training young people in climate change awareness, carbon credit opportunities, and sustainable livelihoods, we create pathways for job creation and economic growth in a green economy.
  • Climate Action Advocacy: GESN advocates for stronger policies and corporate responsibility in addressing climate change. We collaborate with stakeholders to ensure that Africa’s environmental challenges are given the attention they deserve on the global stage.

At GESN, we are committed to building a sustainable future where youth are at the forefront of climate action. Join us on our journey to inspire change, protect the environment, and create a brighter future for all.

In addition, through massive educational awareness training and action programs, we engage youth in meaningful dialogue and hands-on experiences. Using sports as our primary instrument, we foster teamwork, resilience, and leadership skills while highlighting the importance of caring for our planet.
